Preparing a food source: Raised Beds

Well we sure do have a long ways to go! Our interior is still bare bones but we figured we might as well get a start on the garden! Katie stopped in at the hardware store and grabbed a bunch of 2x6 boards. They were nice enough to pre cut them for us so we didn't have to fight with the hand saw all day (I don't own cordless power tools yet). With a good old fashion screwdriver and a bag of deck screws by our side we got-r-done!

Yeah yeah, I know...the house is still FILTHY! But we haven't found a good way to get it clean yet. With no power on site... and no running water or pressure washer, its tough to get clean. The little pail of water from the lake gets dirty pretty quick while hand scrubbing. Going to try the garden sprayer next. Hand pump for pressure should help a lot.

The plan is to add another set of raised beds to eventually double the amount of growing space. Will also be tilling up a food plot in the back when we can get a tractor figured out....as well as a 12x20 or so greenhouse. SO MUCH TO DO! It will all be worth it soon enough. This is a labour of love, and I for one, am loving every minute.
